The third and final session is:

Crochet Club for Girls

This one's for your daughters, granddaughters, nieces and any girls in your life who are keen to learn crochet and get together with like-minded craft lovers!

I'm so excited to be kicking off the first in an ongoing series of crochet workshops for girls this Saturday :)

Starting this Saturday 18th October, The Craft Nest will be opening its doors on a Saturday afternoon from 1-4pm for our new children's session CROCHET CLUB for girls between the ages of 7 years - 14 years.

The Craft Nest's talented mentors will teach yarn craft skills and give guidance and inspiration over a period of time to complete projects your daughter will be proud to share with family and friends. An afternoon in the peaceful and relaxing environment is wonderful for forming friendships with like minded girls that comes from belonging to an art and craft group.

Each session only costs $25 per child, but your child must be registered as a club member.  Initially the sessions will be every two weeks, however it is not compulsory to attend every session. Payment options and dates will be sent after registration.

Due to the size of the cottage and our student/ mentor ratio membership is very limited, so if you think this is something your girl would enjoy REGISTER your interest here now!

spring basket weaving

A few weeks ago we kicked off the first in a series of three Spring basket weaving with textiles workshops at The Craft Nest. The first one was exposed core buttonhole (or blanket) stitch and the results were really lovely.

Can't wait to see Michelle's completed water bottler carrier!

Great company, great food and a really beautiful session of slow crafting. I'm really looking forward to getting together and unwinding at the next one.

For the next session we'll be doing lazy squaw stitch, there are a couple of spots left:

Join The Craft Nest team

The Craft Nest is currently taking expressions of interest for senior mentors for the sewing component of its children's workshop program.
The Children's Workshop Program is mostly run week-ends and school holidays however if you are the right fit this is flexible.

Are you the right person to join The Craft Nest team?
- Are you fairly confident with a sewing machine?
- Are you interested in passing on your sewing skills to the next generation?
- Are you a patient and fun loving person?

No experience in teaching or running workshops is necessary, we would love to offer this opportunity to someone who we can mentor and share their experience, in particular art students, or women looking to re-enter the workforce, or who are retired/semi-retired and looking to contribute to the craft community.

THE CRAFT NEST PROJECT is a place where women and girls from diverse backgrounds and ages gather to embrace the art and love of making and exchange skills and knowledge that will not only benefit themselves, but also benefit communities into the future.

If you think you might be the right person for the role email both thecraftnest@gmail.com and rebecca@edwardandlilly.com with some images of your work or an outline of your crafting/sewing experience and history.

Further information about The Craft Nest, our activities and our vision can be found here http://www.thecraftnest.net/
