olive and the volcano

Sew & Tell, Bangalow

Did you go to Sew & Tell? I did and it was awesome, Bangalow is already super cute to visit but this clever little market full of clever people really topped it off (you better go like their Facebook page so you know when it's on again).

While there I came across Jo of Olive and the Volcano and was blown away by how original and talented she is. Jo's blog is incredibly beautiful and her work is a huge testament to how inspiring the inland forest areas of Northern NSW are. She cleverly composes and binds found paper of varying textures in the most beautiful way I've seen in a while. The photos don't do it justice, you really need to see them in person.

P.S. Don't tell country boy how much I crap on about how cute, awesome and inspiring Nth NSW is, he's already giving me a hard time about giving up my city ways ;)

what a hoot!

Jewellery findings with Freda from Raw Ceramics

I've been having such a beautiful time with the Brisbane chapter of Brown Owls over the last month. We've had more meet ups than usual in some great locations with some beautiful crafters including Freda from Raw Ceramics above who gave us the low down on how she creates her beautiful and unique jewellery findings for her ceramic pendants. Freda was so generous with her time and knowledge and we learnt heaps!

We had a super fun combined meet up with BrisStyle at the brand new Carindale library (and what a great library it is!) stitching and decorating a community bunting for Craft Caravan. Hey, there's me in the pic, that's because the lovely Sandrine who takes amazing photos was there :)
You can check out some of our bunting efforts this weekend over three days of mega craftiness (details here) plus you can join in over the weekend and add more bunting bits to it.

Brown Owls at Imogen's Art Space

And on Monday night we had our first meet up at Imogen's Art Space which is the funnest, sweetest, craftiest space we've been to. Imogen has an awesome line up of workshops for kids which you can check out here. We knitted the night away in preparation for the yarn bombing that will take place tomorrow (Friday 1 June) in King George Square.

I'm so looking forward to our mega meet up over this weekend and also to the rest of the year. You should come along too if you're in Brisbane :)

Here's some helpful links to check out:

Owls meet up at Craft Caravan at the Racecourse Road Festival on Sunday
And loads of info about Craft Caravan can be found on the BrisSytle blog, there'll be markets, demonstrations, make and takes and more!

If you do stop by Craft Caravan make sure you head to the Brown Owls marquee and say hi!

Hoot!

my creative space

I've been slogging away at prototypes this week for a new product, after four attempts the pattern was perfected :)

Yes, it is a completely self-indulgent product and those who know me well will be relieved to never hear me say 'Where's my lip balm?' again. I'm sure there's a million other uses for this teeny keyring  :)

There will be ten of these available in a range of fabric choices tomorrow night at the BrisStyle indie Twilight Market in King George Square, Brisbane CBD from 9-5pm.

And for more creative spaces or to show off your own head here.

For the Brisbanites out there I'll be at the next BrisStyle indie Twilight Market on Friday 27 April 5-9pm at King George Square in the City.
