I’ve been playing with some great colours in my fabric collection that I’ve picked up recently from a friend’s de-stash and at a couple of local op shops.

Plus a huge pile of new designs were pulled out this week for the GoMA Winter Design Market on Saturday.

It’s been really nice working with different styles of stitching lately, so many ideas, so little time, only my most favourite will make the cut.

A bit of crochet on the go finishing off these little nesting bowls and more stitching, this time in tones of pink :)

 

In the coming week I'm hoping to start on some rag rug making, hints and tips very welcome!

It's all about hooking and stitching this week (hehe, as usual!) This project is a bit of an indulgence for my little home, I'm aiming for this crochet mandala to get big enough to be used as a cushion cover. The colour palette is clearly inspired by the piece in my home I'm most fixated by, my "Queenie" (this is a detail of it only). It was love at first sight up at Lockhart River last year between me and the beautiful rivers, flowers and pebbles in this painting.

Finishing off these little beach pebbles I collected over the Christmas break for crochet in the round at Brown Owls next month.

And more stitching, little sneak peeks of some new pieces I hope to have finished by this time next week!

I've been indulging in a little bit of crochet this past week. I always have issues with storage so I've been working on perfecting my crocheting-in-the-round skills to make some bowls and baskets for my home. Learning that while it's very tempting to double crochet, it's actually better to single crochet the sides of a bowl or basket so it stands upright nicely. Yep, trial and error!

Having recently been inspired by my little trip to India I'm also enjoying a bit of kantha style stitching, well my own version of it really. Kind of reminds me of sashiko as well. Either way it makes for a nice departure from my usual whipped stitch and it's highly addictive!

Plus I've been pulling together all of my macramé notes and links from the last Brown Owls meet up, you can find them here, great for anyone wanting an easy way in to knotting.

And with that it's time to make a cuppa and check out more spaces here :)

Lots going on in the space since I've been back, I've been re-working some old designs, developing new products for the BrisStyle market on Friday night and refreshing my macramé knots for Saturday's Brown Owls meet up.

Whipped up some little coin purses for the market, stay tuned, they'll be in the shop soon.

Getting my knots on for plant holders at Brown Owls on Saturday morning, I'm finding lots of uses for these including holding little led tea lights at the market on Friday night.

There was a little rush of pencil cases this week, in particualr everyone seemed to be going for blue dogs and bikes :)

It feels like every spare second and wee hour of the morning this week has been spent stitching, sketching and hooking in preparation for Saturday's BrisStyle indie Eco Market. It's all good fun though and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Lots of things happening in the space this week including some sweet new snowflake Christmas decorations and a new critter in progress inspired by my niece who adores donkeys.

I've been enjoying a bit of early morning jar cosy crocheting for this.

And thank you all for your help last week with those vintage hankies, I ended up going with the bunting and my lil sis loved it :)

It's been a busy past week both in my little sewing space and out and about in the crafty community. 

 

I finally finished a custom order I promised a while back, felt good to tick another thing off the list :) 

Wrapped the ABC Radio building in an 840m scarf with Brown Owls, BrisStyle and the Salvation Army to raise awareness of the amazing work Salvation Army does for the homeless (the scarf will be divided up and donated to those in need).

 

Had a gorgeous morning with Sandrine from SMboutique, Brown Owls and Imogen's Art Space for a felt-making catch up. 

  

And to round it all off I have a big pile of vintage kids hankies to contend with this morning. They were my lil sis's when she was a kid, destined to be turned into something sweet for her birthday this weekend.

I've been spending lots of time in my space this last week working on some new designs for udessi and for the next brisstyle twilight market.

 

Inspired by vintage pull toys and sweet animals, it's no surprise that this little bird is my favourite so far :)

 

Intended for nurseries or kids rooms although I would quite happily hang them in my own room :)

I've been gettin' hooky anywhere I can this week to finish some beanies for the 100 Beanie Drive, helping to give cancer patients warm heads and hearts this Winter, organised by Jess from Epheriell. Check out the deets here.

A few little pics to catch you up on my craftiness since the Christmas rush died down.
