sausage dog embroidery wall art

Finished this sweet custom order on the weekend, it's always a pleasure to create something slightly different to my usual product line.

He's so cute on my wall it's tough to part with him, I reckon he would make a lovely addition to any kid's room, especially in different colour combinations. What do you think? Should I test it out in the shop?

new work

hand-embroidery on navy cotton

Life threw a few curve balls at me in the last month and while I haven't been blogging as much I've still been stitching :)

hand-embroidery on vintage linen

Only one more sleep till Brisbane's Finders Keepers! I'll be on the verandah so if you're in the area pop in and check out some new work.

I also have a limited run of 24 pendants, get in early for one of these!

Plus I have a new display but I'll leave that post till after the weekend ;)

See you there!

i heart hankies

I love hankies especially vintage ones, I couldn't resist doing a little stitching on this one I picked up from Elsie Betty.

I have three more of these and, if finished in time, they will be making their debut at Finders Keepers and BiECO.

My creative space ...

I'm working on a new embroidery, it's on a lovely crisp linen tea towel I purchased a few weeks back from Ellie. I'm hoping to have it finished for the BiDM on Saturday. It just needs a name, any suggestions?

More spaces over at Kirsty's.

all zipped up

It's been too long since I made any zipper pouches so I whipped up these yummy treats this week. They come in a range of sizes, each with a different embroidery design on the back and front. I'd love to keep them all for myself, however...

Check them out tomorrow at the BrisStyle Indie Mother & Child Market. Left overs will make an appearance in the shop next week.

I'm working on a custom order this week. I do love the opportunity to create a one-off, this one is destined to be a wall piece and will be heading north this week.

What's in your space? You can show it off or check out others by popping over here.

city girl

I'm not 100% about this one but I'm still posting her here, maybe she'll look better in the morning. I am pleased I found a use for this piece of Anna Maria Horner fabric though! It's been sitting in my stash since the baby quilt!

australian bass

Australian Bass hand-embroidered on hemp and yak hair

Did you fish a lot as a kid? We did, at crazy hours of the morning for 6 hours plus at a time. We even have trophies for it which is kinda funny for 3 girls. The best bit was the element of surprise waiting to see what type of fish would fly out of the water. The worst bit was a toss up between peeing into a bucket in a dingey in the middle of the Broadwater or smelling like dried live bait and scales for most of the day.

I think this Australian Bass is in desperate need of a frame, could make a nice gift for a fisherman/woman, because everyone knows one of those right?

(btw: The hemp and yak hair is from Duckcloth and while it's not vegan friendly it is divine to work with, it has a super soft texture compared to most linen and/or hemp blends)

texture

A bit of experimenting with texture using a single strand of embroidery thread. I'm trying to put aside 2 hours each week to work on some one-off pieces. I have no idea what this will end up being, it's small enough to be a brooch but maybe not striking enough...

Any suggestions?
