my creative space

It's all about hooking and stitching this week (hehe, as usual!) This project is a bit of an indulgence for my little home, I'm aiming for this crochet mandala to get big enough to be used as a cushion cover. The colour palette is clearly inspired by the piece in my home I'm most fixated by, my "Queenie" (this is a detail of it only). It was love at first sight up at Lockhart River last year between me and the beautiful rivers, flowers and pebbles in this painting.

Finishing off these little beach pebbles I collected over the Christmas break for crochet in the round at Brown Owls next month.

And more stitching, little sneak peeks of some new pieces I hope to have finished by this time next week!

What's happening in your space this week? I hope you've posted it here where I'm headed to check out some more crafty goodness :)

christmas jar cosies

Like many people I have a huge stash of jars with limited use for them so I started prettying them up with some crochet for my market stall display. Soon after I found so many uses for them around the home I thought it was about time I unleashed them onto the world! I love up-cycling where I can and I love having little jar cosies scattered throughout my home.

Jar cosies have multiple uses, a pretty tea light holder, vase, pencil holder or as a cutlery holder to set off your Christmas table setting. They also make gorgeous hostess gifts for friends and loved ones.

Available here :)

my creative space... a month of

Lots of things happening in the space this week including some sweet new snowflake Christmas decorations and a new critter in progress inspired by my niece who adores donkeys.

If you stop by here regularly it's pretty obvious that I love playing along with my creative space each week so I'm super excited about a month of. Check out the details here and if you have instagram hashtag your creativity with #mycreativespace and #amonthof. One of my favourite things about my creative space each week is checking out all the instagram pics :)

Happy November and enjoy your day!

eighth day of the week :: granny ripple crochet tutorial

If I were miraculously granted an eighth day to this week I'd use The Lazyhobbyhopper's granny ripple tutorial and make something fabulous. I can already granny square so I reckon it'd be pretty easy to follow.

The only problem being that when my eighth day comes to an end it could quite possibly end up on the pile of half finished crochet in the corner of my sewing room...

But maybe you'd like to have a crack at it? Here's some ripple inspiration to get you in the mood.

And here's a few more tutorials and patterns you might like:

If you know of any other crochet ripple-y yumminess or have been working on some of your own let us know in a comment below.

A granny a day

There I was so in love with my granny squares, treasuring each and every one I made (yep all 3 of 'em), proudly holding each one up to show the big love while he was trying to work... until I had a really good look through A granny a day flickr pool.

I hope mine look that neat and pretty one day. And with only 3 colours of yarn I'm thinking I need to come up with some more inventive photo shoots so I don't bore the heck out of you all.

I like this one from Sarah London, I wish chocolates fell out of my pencil case when I opened it, or the one that coordinates beautifully with Bundaberg Sugar packaging, yeah that's a nice one. Pip puts retro/vintage stuff with hers, I like that too. And there's something about Kirsty's that make me want to eat sticky caramel chocolatey things and drink coffee.

Hmmm... how many different objects could I photograph a granny with?

A Granny A Day

My name is Rebecca and I'm a granny-a-holic.

Ok, I confess while I don't have time to do a granny a day I am definitely finding this addictive. I can knock one over in an hour now. Em, what have you done to me??? Don't worry I'm still sewing, but more on that later...

Check out all these grannys.
