christmas snowflakes

I'm really enjoying indulging in a bit of crochet for the festive season.

Christmas snowflakes have been so much fun to make, I'm planning on using them for lots of things this year: tree decorations, on a garland, hanging here and there around my little home, decorating presents, and slipped inside Christmas cards.

They come individually or in sets of three, you can pick up some for yourself here :)

christmas jar cosies

Like many people I have a huge stash of jars with limited use for them so I started prettying them up with some crochet for my market stall display. Soon after I found so many uses for them around the home I thought it was about time I unleashed them onto the world! I love up-cycling where I can and I love having little jar cosies scattered throughout my home.

Jar cosies have multiple uses, a pretty tea light holder, vase, pencil holder or as a cutlery holder to set off your Christmas table setting. They also make gorgeous hostess gifts for friends and loved ones.

Available here :)

my creative space... a month of

Lots of things happening in the space this week including some sweet new snowflake Christmas decorations and a new critter in progress inspired by my niece who adores donkeys.

If you stop by here regularly it's pretty obvious that I love playing along with my creative space each week so I'm super excited about a month of. Check out the details here and if you have instagram hashtag your creativity with #mycreativespace and #amonthof. One of my favourite things about my creative space each week is checking out all the instagram pics :)

Happy November and enjoy your day!

embroidered cards: how to and pics from the archive

Digging up some pics from my crafty past (2008) for the next Brown Owls meet up on embroidered cards. Don't you just love re-visiting the old days when it was all about experimenting with every possible craft you could think of till you found 'the one'!

These are super easy to make and sweet for Christmas, just to prove it here's some links to some great tutorials:

Mr Handsomeface: Neon Embroidered Card
Design Sponge: Hand-embroidered note cards
Next to Nicx: Constructive chaos

If you make some let me know, I'd love to check them out :)

my creative space...

It's happening again... I didn't think you would want any more but it seems you do... so I've been stitching away while my little home fills up with the smell of lavender.

The silly season is slowly creeping up as are the orders for little lavender birds, heading off into the world to make trees pretty.

There's more creative stuff going on in more spaces over here ;)

And stay tuned, I have two (fingers crossed for supplies turning up in time) new products coming soon to be launched at the BrisStyle Indie Mother & Child Market next weekend!

to market, to market

November has kicked off with a bang of sewing into the wee hours of the morning in preparation for some very exciting pre-Christmas markets!

Kicking the month off this Saturday is the BrisStyle Indie Eco Market at St Augustine's Church Hall and Grounds, Racecourse Road, Hamilton from 9am-2pm. This one is by far my most favourite BrisStyle market, the marketeers go above and beyond the call to celebrate all that's eco, sustainable and crafty. Plus there are some really great workshops happening on the day, check out the full range of details here.

It's been a busy little year for me so I didn't apply for Finders Keepers this time round however I'm very excited to announce that a selection of my products will be available on the Udessi stall. Finders Keepers is on this weekend 6 & 7 November at the Old Museum from 10am-5pm. Details here.

The Twilight Christmas Design Market at GoMA always makes for a great night out! Enjoy a casual drink at the cash bar while browsing the work of fabulous designers. It's all happening next Friday 12 November from 4-8pm at the GoMA forecourt, Stanley Place, South Brisbane.

And finally the BrisStyle Indie Twilight Market is on again and promises to be the best instalment of Twilight yet! I'll be in the co-op section on Friday 19 November from 5-9pm at King George Square in the City.

More news about December markets coming soon and if you missed my newsletter today you can check it out here.

See you at the markets!

Gifting

Are you still doing Christmas shopping? I am and I've been trawling the web trying to find the perfect gifts for a few people left on my list so I thought I'd share a couple of gift-worthy items I've come across.

KeepCup - The first barista standard re-usable coffee cup. Perfect as a stocking filler or secret santa and super affordable plus it's good for the environment. There will be a number of these heading off to new homes on Christmas day!

The Indie Rock Colouring Book - One of the perks of being an Aunty is the opportunity to colour in again so when I found the The Indie Rock Coloring Book I fell in love. This is perfect for anyone young or old who loves rock and loves to get creative. There are so many cool bands involved in this project plus the proceeds go to the Yellow Bird Project. This one ticks a lot of boxes in my book!

Thea & Sami Tea Towels - Because we all know someone who wants their kitchen to look like a magazine photo shoot right? Linen tea towels in particular are super absorbant and dry fast, check out this great post from Thea & Sami on that topic. I nabbed a couple of Thea's gorgeous tea towels at the Young Designers Market on Sunday, I especially love this spoon and whisk design but there's also more to choose from here. Also worth a look in are gorgeous designs from Yardage Design and Flower Press.

Shagpile - I just love these necklaces from Shagpile, little morsels of fabric captured in time and there are so many styles to choose from there's bound to be one for everyone. They're super light and easy to wear making them the perfect Summer accessory. Plus they come beautifully packaged so you can pop them straight under the tree.

Stumbled across anything gift-worthy? I'm still on the prowl and I have a number of baby boomers left on my list who own everything so any suggestions for them are very welcome!
