easter gifting

There can be no doubting that most kids are going to receive loads of chocolate for Easter right? So, why not give them a treat that lasts a little longer, is better for them and supports the fabulous handmade movement. I love the nostalgia of paper dolls and once the chocolate rush is over these cuties from Little Mo and Friends are sure to be a girl's best friend on Easter morning. You can choose from 4 styles representing our 4 beautiful Seasons.

I really love the huge range of products at Pocket Carnival this year especially the sweet pencil cases. For all those little ones who have started school this year I reckon they'd love to go back after the Easter break with something as cute as this.

Mel from Retro Bird is all stocked up with so many pretty things that would make the most perfect little gifts. I'll be gifting a selection from the babushka range this Easter, I also love the pretty Easter egg necklaces and bracelets.

My nieces love it when I visit with a big bag of fabric scraps and some wooden peg dolls, there have been all sorts of creations made from those scraps, from batgirl to butterflies to a full fashion parade. I don't think any have been quite as perfect as Enchanted Belles' clothespin dolls, there's a gorgeous range of dolls including this Japanese inspired one, Alice in Wonderland and sweet wedding cake toppers.

Found any special Easter gifts? Leave a comment I'd love to hear about them.

Gifting

Are you still doing Christmas shopping? I am and I've been trawling the web trying to find the perfect gifts for a few people left on my list so I thought I'd share a couple of gift-worthy items I've come across.

KeepCup - The first barista standard re-usable coffee cup. Perfect as a stocking filler or secret santa and super affordable plus it's good for the environment. There will be a number of these heading off to new homes on Christmas day!

The Indie Rock Colouring Book - One of the perks of being an Aunty is the opportunity to colour in again so when I found the The Indie Rock Coloring Book I fell in love. This is perfect for anyone young or old who loves rock and loves to get creative. There are so many cool bands involved in this project plus the proceeds go to the Yellow Bird Project. This one ticks a lot of boxes in my book!

Thea & Sami Tea Towels - Because we all know someone who wants their kitchen to look like a magazine photo shoot right? Linen tea towels in particular are super absorbant and dry fast, check out this great post from Thea & Sami on that topic. I nabbed a couple of Thea's gorgeous tea towels at the Young Designers Market on Sunday, I especially love this spoon and whisk design but there's also more to choose from here. Also worth a look in are gorgeous designs from Yardage Design and Flower Press.

Shagpile - I just love these necklaces from Shagpile, little morsels of fabric captured in time and there are so many styles to choose from there's bound to be one for everyone. They're super light and easy to wear making them the perfect Summer accessory. Plus they come beautifully packaged so you can pop them straight under the tree.

Stumbled across anything gift-worthy? I'm still on the prowl and I have a number of baby boomers left on my list who own everything so any suggestions for them are very welcome!

Non-chocolatey Easter Gifts

Happy Easter!

What are you up to today? Was Mr E. Bunny good to you?

We're having a combined Easter/birthdays celebration lunch out today so I'm hoping these little colouring wallets will keep the nieces occupied. You can get the pattern from JCasa Handmade. The bunny is for the littlest.

Fabrics from Kimono Reincarnate and Superbuzzy. Oooh, probably a good time to mention there's a list of online fabric stores in my sidebar that I personally have had a good experience with, I'm sure it will grow along with my stash so if you have any suggested online stores let me know.

Custom Made Easter Chicks

Another item ticked off my sewing list for the week. These two little Easter Chicks were custom made to tie onto little wrists, kind of like a corsage but for Easter ;)

There's another Easter Chick in the shop or you can leave me a comment for a custom order.

Handmade Easter Gifts

This time last year I was busy making three little Easter Chicks for my three little nieces (my niece tally now stands at four).

On the weekend I pulled my design notes out and made one for the shop, so if you're looking for a non-chocolatey easter present for a special little person pop over here for USD or here for AUD or leave me a comment to order one directly.

(Little L with her Easter Chick last year)

**edit: This particular little chick is now sold but there are more in the shop or leave a comment to order one directly.**
