black dog

I walked past a dog this morning, he didn't have a collar on. I stopped to talk to him, to check if he was ok, but he walked straight past me. He seemed preoccupied with where he was going.

I love dogs, they make me smile, but he was almost as big as me and I was afraid to touch him. If he were a little dog I might have picked him up...

I've been thinking about him all day, wondering if he was lost or if he knew exactly where he was going.

  1. Oh a dog on a mission!! My dog would have gladly been chatted & patted by you. He's a big big puppy, German Shepherd & super friendly. Love Posie

  3. So sweet. I know just how you feel - whenever I see a dog without a collar, I worry about them.

Thanks for including my cards. :)

  5. Dear Rebecca,
My name is Mergatroid and I think we may have met yesterday. I just had to write (dictated to my owner Mr Ian Charge) to apologise for my rude behaviour in not stopping to talk. As you may have guessed I was on a secret mission. This explains my lack of accessories yesterday (and I do hate to leave the house without them...am sure you know what I mean). The problem started a few days ago when Mr Ian Charge gave me my usual dinner, supposedly fillet steak cooked to perfection and then sliced finely the way I like it. What can I say, I come from a long line of fine dining connoisseurs. But this meal was wrong, very wrong. And the ones that followed were no better. Came yesterday morning and I knew I could take it no longer. I had to do a bit of sleuthing down at the butchers. I was returning home from there when we met. And I must say your smiling face was the only bright spot in the morning. For I had discovered a dastardly deed of the highest order. Even now I cannot bring myself to speak of it.... My apologies once more, Yours in cheerful countanence, Mergatroid

  6. What a wonderful story. I am always stopping to talk to dogs and cats that I meet on my travels. I've become a bit more cautious with introducing myself to dogs as I've been bitten a couple of times when I've been a little too forward. I'm like you though, I love them. They make me happy.
