I was freaking out a little on the weekend about having time to make stuff for the BrisStyle market on 4 July. Luckily Sam and Katie calmed by nerves a bit on Sunday at Brown Owls when they suggested making one thing a day from now until the market. That translates to one thing a night for me. So far so good, almost 3 boys in 3 nights. Have I slept? Yep, but only because the big love cooks me dinner, does the housework and makes my lunch for work the next day ;)

That's a really good approach to it, one that I should take. Hopefully as long as a little one doesn't decide to come early, I'll be dropping by.

ReplyDeleteI think that is very sage advice, and I may try to do the same myself, as I always end up with lots of half finished things (and thankfully a few finished items) by the time markets arrive....and many stressful moments.

ReplyDeleteI have a similar plan when I am feeling overwhelmed...it is only sleep, isn't it? The day after the market I start putting the house back together but I am grateful to my Big Love for keeping us afloat!

Your stratedgy looks sound. I have memories of my Mum over-working to the point of illness while preparing for craft fairs in the early eighties when I was a teen. It effected my assessment of crafting for money for a long time. We need to keep the original reasons we started for it to stay fulfilling.

I have a similar approach. I mass produce in my unique handmade fashion over a period of 3-4 weeks. So, I have 24 Maisies on the go. I will complete them in batches of 6 per week.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that 'your big love' and 'my man aka the gardener' both help us out with dinners, cleaning and lunches. Plus they loooove rugby! I am a softie stuffing rugby wife.
