My creative space...

I was freaking out a little on the weekend about having time to make stuff for the BrisStyle market on 4 July. Luckily Sam and Katie calmed by nerves a bit on Sunday at Brown Owls when they suggested making one thing a day from now until the market. That translates to one thing a night for me. So far so good, almost 3 boys in 3 nights. Have I slept? Yep, but only because the big love cooks me dinner, does the housework and makes my lunch for work the next day ;)

For more creative spaces pop over to Kirsty's.

  1. That's a really good approach to it, one that I should take. Hopefully as long as a little one doesn't decide to come early, I'll be dropping by.

Thanks for the offer of helping me with my market! I'll be doing it with my cousin (and hopefully dragging DH along to help set up), so should be fine, but it would be lovely to see you if you're in the area.

Now... I just have to make some things to sell....

  3. It's good for the soul to craft at night - there is that strange second wind you can ride on.

  4. How lucky are you! You get to do crafting and somebody else does all the work.I dream about that happening in my household all the time.

  5. That's a great plan. I need to institute it for myself for my market coming up in a couple of months. I'm sure that would help my stress level. I love the kitties in progress, so cute.

  7. These kitty cats are so sweet. Good luck getting everything done! 3 in 3 nights is quiet an achievement so far.

  8. I can imagine the market pressure must get a bit creativity-stiffling at times. But the approach sounds wise. And the cuteness of your softies makes it all worthwhile...

  9. Thanks for your kind comments, it keeps me going :)

The approach is a good one, it lets me just focus on one thing at a time rather than feeling overwhelmed by everything!!!

  12. Good idea - sometimes when you look around at all you've begun and not finished - it gets a little overwhelming. Your kitty's are looking great and i'm sure you'll finish everything in time!

  13. you little softies look so cute! Well done on getting one a night done. I find it so hard working to deadlines, but you're doing well!

  14. I think that is very sage advice, and I may try to do the same myself, as I always end up with lots of half finished things (and thankfully a few finished items) by the time markets arrive....and many stressful moments.

Night work...it's the only way I get anything done around here!

    Lovely looking softies.

  16. Thank goodness for The Big Love. I have one of them too (though I suspect the housework has wafted to the bottom of his priority list). Hang in there!

  17. One thing a day sounds like a great strategy - sensible friends you have! Best of luck getting it all ready and fingers crossed for great sales!

Oh, I'm sure you get the idea!

You can do it Rebecca, a few barocca's might help too. Good luck!

  23. I have a similar plan when I am feeling overwhelmed...it is only sleep, isn't it? The day after the market I start putting the house back together but I am grateful to my Big Love for keeping us afloat!

  26. Your stratedgy looks sound. I have memories of my Mum over-working to the point of illness while preparing for craft fairs in the early eighties when I was a teen. It effected my assessment of crafting for money for a long time. We need to keep the original reasons we started for it to stay fulfilling.

  27. Good on your 'big love' for helping out, a crafter's precious time is usually grossly underestimated.

If your keeping to schedule, hopefully your third kitty cat (without the face) can see, sniff and meow by now ;)

Best wishes with your goals for the market. Although I won't be participating with a stall that day, I'll be there eagerly awaiting Edward and Lilly's finished results.

  29. I join you in the freaking out. I have to make a quilt for an exhibition at the end of July, as well as topping up stock for our BrisStyle market. Big, deep breaths, one at a time ...

  30. Sounds like a great plan!

  31. I have a similar approach. I mass produce in my unique handmade fashion over a period of 3-4 weeks. So, I have 24 Maisies on the go. I will complete them in batches of 6 per week.

I find it interesting that 'your big love' and 'my man aka the gardener' both help us out with dinners, cleaning and lunches. Plus they loooove rugby! I am a softie stuffing rugby wife.
