My creative space...

I have a new creative space this week!! I woke the other morning to find the big love had shifted the computer to the dining room and set up our little study as a sewing room!

Lots of cutting fabric for bushfire bunnies, a bit of embroidery and a lovely pack of fabric arrived from the Amitie VIP club. You'll have to excuse the poor photos, the natural light isn't the best in this little nook but I do love having my own space (and not having to pack everything away!)

For more creative spaces or to join in pop over to kootoyoo.

Consider yourself tagged

Did you know that in San Marco's Piazza in Venice those benches around the edges aren't just for tourists to sit on, they're for walking on during the flooding? I didn't know that till my second visit last year when I saw it for myself.

Little Chrissy and Em tagged me last week to select the 6th photo in the 6th folder on my computer and blog it, fun huh? It's nice to take a break and pop down memory lane so I tag you all to play along too. If you do, leave me a comment so I can pop over to your place and check it out.

And, thank you Myra for the Kreativ Blogger award earlier in the month, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post. I'm awarding it to the first 7 people who comment on this post.

Bushfire Bunnies

I have started a community fundraising page for the Red Cross to encourage more donations no matter how big or small.

For every $20 raised for the Red Cross on my community fundraising page, I will make a bushfire bunny to be donated to the children who lost their toys in the Victorian Bushfires.

Donations are tax deductible and go directly to the Red Cross. My resources and time to make the bushfire bunnies is 100% voluntary.

Please help out by donating and/or spreading the word :)

Make-A-Long with Mike's

There's a potentially huge crafty project going on at Mike's this year. Each month has a different theme and you can join in any time you like. February is for felt. "Great!" I said when I found out "I love working with felt". So, here's my felty Valentine Girl Brooch. She was supposed to be inspired by a German folk costume but I couldn't quite pull that off. Big Love says she just looks like a mini-me. Either way, I think she's waiting under that Tower for a Valentine's kiss.

Check out the Make-A-Long with Mike's post and all the February felty fabulousness in the flickr pool. While you're there be sure to leave loads of comments on all those felty creations ;)

My creative space...

My desk was cleaned up last night after finishing off my felt project for Make-A-Long with Mike's (more about that later). It's now full of unpacked mail so here go the thank yous...

Thank you Kirsty for the sweet baby blanket, it's so perfect and I'm sure will be greatly appreciated in its new home;

Thank you girl.ferment for the upholstery fabric samples, there are so many lovely pieces in that huge pile it left me feeling a little overwhelmed. And your handmade paper looks great!

Thank you Lisa for the lovely itti pouch not to mention the cute fabric with it. If you would like your own itti pouch you can get one here.

Next up in my creative space... paperwork :(

To play along and check out other spaces pop over to Kootoyoo.

Wee Elephant

So, here's the verdict on the Hilary Lang design from Joelle Hoverson's book Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts. Like other Wee Wonderfuls patterns this is super easy and it doesn't take long although pinning and sewing the curves is a little fiddly. I didn't come across any pattern problems. Having said that I do respond better to images than explanations so I felt the pattern could do with some diagrams. The best and certainly most unique thing about this book is that it's categorised into sections based on how long a project is expected to take. I love that! Very useful for whipping up 'last-minute' gifts.

I should mention the cupcake was made by Elizabeth, you might remember it from this post. Actually, I ate one just like it on the weekend ;)

Flickr Friend: Jennifer Ladd

1. Wooden handle purse with Japanese fans, 2. Matryoshka nesting dolls wristlet, 3. Dachshunds in sweaters baby booties, 4. Painters palette clasp clutch purse

The two things I love about Jennifer Ladd's designs are the combination of fabric and that the fabric inside her purses and bags is just as cute as the outside.
